Thales Universite is launching a unique Masters degree programme in Information Operations, in partnership with the University of Portsmouth, the Royal Navy through Flagship Training Limited, and the British Army Royal School of Signals. |
| The principal aim of the innovative course, in combining specialist learning with operational practice, is to provide formal professional development in the principles and practices of Information Operations – Electronic Warfare. The programme is designed to meet the specialist needs of serving officers and NCO’s along with scientists and engineers in government and the defence industry. |
The Masters Programme is split into two parts with a 21-week residential held at locations including HMS Dryad – Portsmouth, The Royal School of Signals – Blandford, and Thales Universite. This is followed by a 6-18 month duration work based learning project. Recruitment is already under way and the inaugural group of successful applicants will commence study in February 2003. The University of Portsmouth will award the MSc in Information Operations.
Peter Newman, client training director, said:"We are pleased to be leading this exceptional Masters Programme, designed to meet an emerging demand for specialist training that is academically rigourous whilst being directly relevant to operations in the field. Our choice of partners will ensure these criteria are met and that high standards will be maintained during all parts of the programme’s delivery. The programme is a natural progression from our established portfolio of EW courses that includes the Staff Officers Joint Electronic Warfare Course, a NATO approved programme."
